Winner of the Editor's Choice Award "Best Musical Instrument Store" Richmond Magazine, August 2004

Metro Sound & Music is an independently owned music store in the heart of the old and historic "President's Row" of Richmond, Virginia.

Since our inception in 1992, we have specialized in only the highest quality new and used musical instruments and equipment. Currently, this part of town is undergoing a massive renovation and we are excited about all the new plans the City of Richmond has initiated to revive this architectually abundant area, not to mention the increasingly popular monthly "Artwalk" events bringing hundreds of new faces downtown monthly.

At the turn of the century, almost all the local music stores were located within this vibrant 10 block commercial district known as "Downtown" Broad Street. In fact, an extremely rare, special ordered, 1957 Gibson Les Paul Custom in cherry finish, cited in Tom Wheelers "American Guitars" book, was sold at the now defunct "Walter D. Moses Music Store" down the street. It is sad to say that all of those wonderful stores are long gone. However, Metro Sound & Music still carries on business in the traditional way: one sale at a time and one customer at a time.

Since the beginning, Metro Sound & Music has specialized in the finest vintage, new and used musical instruments and repairs. Our mission is to provide the musician with exceptional service and knowledge on all types of instruments. Furthermore, our goal is not to become the largest music store in the world, just one of the most unique full-service music store around. We are proud to be a leader in selling and servicing quality vintage, new and used musical instruments both regionally and worldwide.

Over the years, Metro Sound & Music has accumulated one of the largest selections of vintage musical instruments in the region. We are always paying top dollar for quality used musical items! Call us before you sell any old American or British amplifier, drum or stringed instrument.

Our downtown location features the newly built Metro Sound & Music Learning Center, the Amplifier and Instrument Repair Shop, and the areas finest band rehearsal facilities. We simply have it all here for you at Metro Sound & Music! We invite you to visit our historic building and all that it offers. Come see for yourself how Metro Sound & Music is like no other music store around.
